WhatsApp allows the administrator of a group to add you, even if you have already left several times. That is why I will show you how you can restrict a WhatsApp group, which is achieved by stopping someone from adding you to a group without your approval.
Surely, on many occasions, you have wanted to avoid being added to certain groups without your consent. And it can be uncomfortable to leave a group and let others know about it. Luckily, you can restrict the administrator of the WhatsApp group from entering you. Here, I will show you how to prevent someone from adding you without your permission.
How to restrict a WhatsApp group?
In WhatsApp, you cannot block or restrict a group directly, but you can prevent the administrator to add you without permission:
1. Open WhatsApp, and tap Settings in the bottom corner on iPhone. If you have an Android, press the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen and choose Settings.
2. From here, select Account and then Privacy.
3. Now, from the Privacy screen, click on the Groups option.
4. On this screen, you can select who can or can’t add you to groups, with 3 options. If the person adding you isn’t in your contact list, simply select Friends.
5. But if it’s someone on your friends’ list and in contacts, select My contacts, except…
6. And select the people you don’t want to add you to their groups.
This is the way you can block WhatsApp groups to avoid being added to them. Prevent the administrator from being able to add you or limit that only your contacts can add you.
Remember that even if you prevent an administrator from adding you to their group by using the privacy option, they can still send you an invitation to join. Anyway, this is advantageous, since you would have control over whether you join the group.
